Portlandia’s Garden Oasis

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in posting, lots going on and tons of new pictures to share. This is the first in a multi-post series from Portland. I visited in the spring for a friend’s graduation and it was outrageously beautiful. My best friend took me out to this place that used to be a sanatarium, up a dark, overgrown and windy road…

The building now houses a restaurant and hotel and is a ways out from downtown

There are gardens surrounding the place, with lots of weird pipe-art

P1060965

There was this tiny little cigar smoking cottage

P1060966

And toppled monoliths covered in succulents and cacti

P1060967

Some were even in bloom

P1060968

The herb garden was full and in bloom

Can you guess what these are?

These were baby artichokes

P1060978

Pretty blue flowers

P1060979

And so, so many blueberries

P1060980

We found this squirrel in a small pocket

P1060981

Not sure what this flower is

P1060983

But this poppy is brilliant

P1060984

They even had a vintyard

P1060985

And a flower and vegetable garden

Can you guess what these are?

Asparagus

And then we saw something hiding among the flowers…

A cute little bunny! What a great end to my trip, I hopped on my flight a couple hours later. More from the trip next week.
